Welcome to The Laser Group!

Cutting, welding, drilling and heat treatment using CO2 lasers are areas of rapid growth all over the world. YAG laser technology is a highly interesting and complementary alternative which is expected to contribute to even more rapid growth in the variety of laser applications.

Laser technology possesses a degree of flexibility that few other industrial processes can offer.

The Laser Group, as the Swedish Association for Laser Applications in Manufacturing Industry is known, was formed in 1988 in order to promote the use of laser technology in manufacturing industry. The Laser Group provides a platform for the mutual exchange of knowledge and experience and a means of fostering collaboration between members.

The Laser Group promotes topics of common interest, not only aspects of science and technology but also matters relating to the law, finance, the working environment and business in general. The Laser Group represents this branch of industry and offers an information/contact network between the industry and the authorities, organistions and reasearch agencies both national and international.

The Laser Group undertakes work on projects and questions initiated by member companies, for example by disseminating information through seminars and courses and by its actively seeking to extend its network of contacts. The Laser Group publishes the members' newsletter LaserNytt. The Laser Group has its offices in premises shared with the Swedish Welding Commission.

The Swedish Welding Commission is a nonprofit-making organization which works to support industrial companies, research institutes, government and other public agencies as well as other types of organizations. The primary objectives of the Commission is to promote the research and development of Swedish welding and cutting technology and standardization, education and information in the welding field.

The Commission has 300 member companies. They represent a number of different industrial sectors: the engineering industry, the steel manufacturing industry, and manufacturers of products for welding and cutting. Thus, the Welding Commission represents and can draw on expertise from all of the major industrial sectors where welding plays a significant role.
